The PEIK energy audit in Geneva and Lausanne

1 - Introduction: theThe PEIK audit in Geneva and Lausanne

SMEs account for about one third of the total energy consumption of industry and services in Switzerland. Their energy consumption varies between CHF 20,000 and 300,000. SwitzerlandEnergy supports SMEs in reducing their energy consumption and helps them in their energy transition.
To this end, SwitzerlandEnergy has developed the PEIK audit. The PEIK programme was launched in 2001 by the Swiss government to encourage SMEs to exploit their energy efficiency potential more effectively without having to invest large sums of money.. It reduces energy costs and improves the image through sustainability. With immediate energy efficiency measures, you can reduce your company's energy costs by up to 15%.

It is well known that the most environmentally friendly energy is the one that is not produced. With this audit, you contribute to an economy that preserves the climate and biodiversity and thus gives a better image of the company to the general public.

2 - PEIK audit, how does it work?

Lighting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, ... which energy renovation project will be the most efficient to implement? The simplest? The most economical in the long term? SuisseEnergie, the Swiss Federal Office of Energy's (SFOE) energy efficiency incentive programme, has set up the PEIK audits, which are specifically designed for SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises). This audit is carried out by certified specialists, in particular energy efficiency engineers (SuisseEnergie, 2022) like us.

3 - Satisfaction and energy savings

A satisfaction survey among SMEs that have benefited from a PEIK audit shows that 80% of clients are satisfied to very satisfied with the quality and results of the PEIK energy audit. Almost 70% of PEIK's clients state that their expectations regarding the savings potential have been exceeded.

The PEIK energy consultancy analyses the relevant energy sources of an SME and shows the savings potential. Over 94% have planned or implemented energy saving measures in their company.

4 - Example of PEIK application

With a few simple immediate measures, reductions in your company's energy consumption of 10-15% are possible. Typically, if you spend CHF 30,000 per year on fuel, heating and electricity, a 15% reduction in energy consumption means a saving of CHF 4,500.
